Mission carried out by MCB
The Mauritania Pavilion at Expo ZAR08 extends the office’s activity into a particular register: event architecture and international national representation. The project had to bring together spatial legibility, cultural identity and the constraints of a compressed schedule.
MCB carried out the studies, preliminary and developed design, execution documents and construction supervision. At this scale, the relationship between architecture, exhibition design and the narrative of the represented country became central.
The reference usefully broadens the spectrum of the office’s work: it shows that a practice rooted in the Mauritanian territory can also take on temporary or representative devices whenever they require rigour, coherence and sustained involvement through construction.
